IPS has an immediate need for a talented Designer (E&I) to join our industry leading team at our Singaporeoffice.
The Senior Designer works independently on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or Discipline Manager/Lead Engineer. This position will play a role in the entire design process including but not limited to preliminary assessments, concept design, basic design, detailed design, site support, problem resolution, customer & vendor accessibility. The Senior Designer may have to work on several concurrent projects and at times may assist as a technical expert on a specialized design.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Uses computer aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents. Reviews drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards.
· Prepare 2D AutoCAD/Microstation Design Drawings
· Prepare 3D Model using Revit, PDS, BIM or similar software and extract design drawings/Isometrics from these models
· Prepares/supports Material Take-Off (MTO), Single Line Diagrams, Schematic Diagrams, Cable Sizing, Cable Schedule, Cable Filling, Lighting Calculations Conventional and Software, System & Equipment Layout, I/O Schedule, Instrument Index, Standard Installation Details.
· Knowledge of local code requirements for Electrical & Extra Low Voltage (ELV) Systems.
· Knowledge in ELV Systems such as Fire Alarm, Public Address, Fireman Intercom, Access Control/Security, CCTV, Voice & Data.
· Knowledge of Singapore Power Grid (SPPG) requirements for Substation and Underground Pipe Works for both SPPG & IDA.
· Prepare demolition layouts/schematics, tie-in requirements and translate into drawings.
· Prepare and/or assist E&I contractor/vendor in termination drawings.
· Develops design concepts, prepares documents during various stages of design. Corrects and updates design documents. Develops solutions to design problems.
· Initiates squad inter-discipline squad checks and squad checks with client (when necessary) prior to issue of drawings at various stages of project.
· Works with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion. Interacts with clients regularly to secure scope and design intent.
· Ensure acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to assure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
· Coordinates design work with related engineering disciplines. Attends job and construction meetings, site walks, liaise with E&I contractor and participate in the coordination of the E&I work with other disciplines.
· Contributes to annual performance reviews, assist in educating and development of assigned design staff and acts as resource for design questions.
· Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Minimum 5 years' previous design experience in Electrical/Instrumentation in Bio-Phrama/cGMP Industrial projects.
· Technical Degree from an accredited technical institution in areas of electrical & instrumentation/design.
· Must be proficient in the use of CAD and 3D modeling design.
· General knowledge of all aspects of E&I systems and may have recognized expertise in one area such as electrical & instrumentation communication systems, lighting, construction coordination, energy conservation or project management.
· Has a demonstrated ability to manage projects, problem solving, communicate effectively to all key personnel, and time management.
