Legal Manager - Intellectual Property & Data Compliance

Brightoil Petroleum (s'pore) Pte. Ltd.

Responsibilities:

Intellectual Property Management:


Oversee all intellectual property matters, including the application, maintenance, and protection of patents, trademarks, and copyrights.

Provide legal advice on intellectual property issues to ensure the lawful protection of the company’s innovative outputs.

Manage relationships with external lawyers and agencies to handle intellectual property-related disputes and litigation.

Develop and implement strategies for intellectual property protection to prevent potential infringements.


Data Compliance:


Ensure the company’s compliance with relevant laws and regulations in data collection, processing, storage, and sharing.

Ensure that company operations comply with global data privacy and protection regulations.

Review and update data protection policies, identifying and mitigating legal risks related to data processing.

Collaborate with IT and data teams to implement best practices in data protection and conduct regular compliance audits.


Contract Review and Management:


Review, draft, and negotiate contract terms related to intellectual property and data protection.

Ensure all contracts adhere to company policies and external legal requirements.


Legal Training & Compliance Awareness:


Provide training to company employees on intellectual property, data protection, and compliance-related matters.

Enhance the company’s overall legal compliance awareness, ensuring all departments understand and follow relevant regulations.


Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law with a valid legal practice qualification.

At least 5 years of experience in intellectual property and data compliance.

Familiarity with domestic and international intellectual property laws and data protection frameworks.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders on complex legal issues.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capability to work effectively under pressure.
