Paralegal, Regulatory Department

We are looking for a candidate with a keen interest in regulatory work to assist the Regulatory department in carrying out its functions. The successful candidate will provide legal administrative support in administering the complaints processes, inquiries and mediation in accordance with the Legal Profession Act.


The specific duties include:

  • Communicate effectively with complainants and apprise them of the requirements under the LPA requirements
  • Assist in the administration of Legal Profession (Solicitors’ Accounts) Rules, including interventions into the client account of law practices and inspections and all other regulatory matters
  • Prepare all draft correspondence for regulatory matters including mandatory notices under the LPA, meeting agendas/ minutes/matters arising for all disciplinary matters/ committee work and regulatory matters for Council
  • Preparation and drafting of Annual Report for the respective Committees handled by Regulatory Department
  • Provide prompt and accurate information on disciplinary records upon receiving the request from both internal/external agencies
  • Provide prompt and accurate statistics on disciplinary matters for AGM as well as other requests from both internal/external agencies
  • Ensure that files are opened in the Master File Register and disciplinary records are updated in CRM in a timely manner and ensure the integrity of data/information entered
  • Assist with the appointment, scheduling and administration of mediators and members of the Investigative Tribunal
  • Assist in preparing slides for seminars/presentations given by the Regulatory Department


Requirements

  • Diploma in Law/ Legal Studies
  • At least 3 - 5 years of working experience preferably in the litigation department of a Singapore law practice
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong language ability with demonstrated proficiency in writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently, whilst maintaining a high quality of work and attention to detail within tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated, resourceful and good team player with good administrative and organisational skills
  • Strong people management skills, with high EQ
  • Highly ethical, discreet and able to maintain confidentiality
