Job Description
The Head of Psychology/Behaviour Support in SAAC leads the team of psychologists, associate psychologists and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) specialists in SAAC to deliver Centre-wide Positive Behaviour Support and psychological services to uplift the quality of life of the persons with autism we serve. He/she does this by playing a leading role in:
- the design and implementation of programmes and interventions to meet the needs of persons with autism, with Positive Behaviour Support as the core strategy, supplemented by other systemic supports for persons with autism, e.g. the use of environmental and visual supports, crisis response strategies and trauma-informed practice;
- providing clinical supervision to psychologists and associate psychologists in order to help the team grow the breadth and depth of their competencies so that the team can collectively serve the beneficiaries well;
- leading the team to provide training and mentoring to frontline staff in the school, Day Activity Centres and Residential Home so as to upskill frontline staff to better support persons with autism on a daily basis; and
- co-labouring with fellow Allied Professionals as well as frontline leaders in delivering holistic support through a multidisciplinary/transdisciplinary case management approach for beneficiaries with higher support needs.
Prospective candidates should:
- Have full registration with Singapore Psychological Society or another accreditation body, that qualifies the candidate to clinically supervise the psychologists in the Centre;
- Preferably be trained in Positive Behaviour Support. If the candidate is not trained, but is keen to learn, SAAC will invest in the training to bring him/her up to speed;
- Have experience, or at least a keen interest in working with persons with autism;
- Preferably have some leadership experience (outstanding high potential candidates without leadership may be considered); and
- Most importantly, possess a heart to serve; and to lead by serving.
