Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Engineers provide expertise in technical project tasks such as preparing documentation, configuration and software development of the plant operational technology. They are responsible for shop floor systems, manufacturing applications, machine integration with MES, printers and other manufacturing hardware. They provide technical support to troubleshoot equipment issues through structured problem-solving processes. They are also responsible for implementation of production line systems and improvement of existing systems by modifying and/or updating MES process flows using off the shelf software.
Our entry level MES Engineers implement MES projects in various industries under supervision of technical and commercial leaders. They come with a solid foundation of software development (C#, JavaScript, SQL) or mechatronic (PLC, DCS, SCADA) education with a very strong desire to learn about the manufacturing industry. The career progression path for entry level MES Engineers are towards senior engineering, business consulting or project management roles.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide software configuration & development for MES functions including business systems integration, PLC interfaces, Electrical Test interfaces, MES master data maintenance & process modeling, transactions and user interfaces, and Database / reporting functions.
- Develop, modify or debug MES logic and related IT Applications to enhance equipment interface and operation of the MES. Diagnose and help resolve causes of process and communication malfunctions on all equipment.
- Author and execute software validation activities with proper oversight to support and maintain the MES. Provide training to technicians on the operation and diagnostics of the software to machine processes and applications.
- Create reports/dashboards from data stored in various production databases. Work with Process Engineers, Production departments, IT and Maintenance to evaluate MES requirements for production line improvements and modifications.
- Support manufacturing metrics (Safety, Engineering Changes, OEE, Scrap, Yield, Track & Trace, etc.)
- Configure system settings and options, plan and execute integration acceptance testing with required documentation.
- Perform system configuration changes, monitor systems and correct errors.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Learn to Train others on systems, software, equipment and processes.
- Research and implement cost effective upgrades to the equipment and manufacturing applications.
- Modify and create SQL queries and stored procedures to create reports and functions.
- Support web applications and solutions. Coordinate IT/MES activities with internal and external stakeholders to drive project goals.
Qualifications:
1. Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, or IT Management.
2. Educational qualifications and/or certifications in C#, JavaScript, and SQL.
3. Strong willingness to learn and travel up to 15% within the ASEAN region for short periods of time at customer manufacturing sites.
