Job Description: Dental Clinical Assistant
Overview:A Dental Clinical Assistant supports the dentist during patient care, ensuring a smooth and efficient dental experience. They assist with clinical procedures, patient management, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chairside Assistance:Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
Prepare and arrange dental instruments, materials, and equipment.
Hand instruments and materials to the dentist during procedures.
Operate dental equipment, such as suction devices and curing lights.
- Patient Care:Greet and prepare patients for dental procedures.
Provide patients with information before, during, and after treatment.
Take and record patient medical histories and vital signs.
Ensure patient comfort and respond to patient needs during procedures.
- Infection Control & Sterilization:Sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment, and operatories.
Follow proper infection control protocols to maintain a sterile environment.
Prepare and maintain dental instruments and trays.
- Lab Work:Prepare materials for impressions and restorations.
Pour and trim models, and create temporary restorations under the dentist’s guidance.
Handle and store dental lab cases.
- Administrative Support:Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
Maintain patient records and update them as necessary.
Handle patient billing.
Manage dental office inventory, including ordering and stocking supplies.
- Patient Education:Provide patients with instructions for oral care after surgery or other dental treatment procedures.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care.
Requirements: Dental Clinical Assistant
- Experience:Previous experience as a Dental Clinical Assistant is preferred but not always required.
Experience with dental software (e.g., Medisys) is an advantage.
- Skills:Proficiency in four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting techniques.
Strong knowledge of dental instruments, materials, and procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and team members.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to maintain a sterile and clean working environment.
Competence in using dental software and managing patient records.
- Physical Requirements:Ability to stand for long periods.
Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
Ability to lift and move dental equipment and supplies.
