Introduction to the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Application Packaging Engineer a chance to work within one of the world’s largest financial institutions, with people and cutting-edge technology at is core. The ideal candidate will be responsible for packaging and deploying software applications to ensure seamless and consistent installation across our organization. The Application Packaging Engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure that applications are correctly packaged, tested, and deployed, while adhering to best practices and company standards.
The Position:
- Package software applications for deployment using established packaging tools and technologies.
- Collaborate with application owners, developers, and other IT teams to gather requirements and ensure accurate packaging of applications.
- Test packaged applications in various environments to ensure functionality, compatibility, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application packaging, deployment, and installation.
- Create and maintain documentation for packaging processes, standards, and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to application packaging and deployment.
- Implement security measures and configurations to ensure that packaged applications meet company security standards.
- Monitor and manage application packaging queues to prioritize and fulfil packaging requests in a timely manner.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to improve packaging workflows and enhance deployment processes.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end users and IT teams regarding packaged applications.
- Collaborate with system administrators to ensure that packaged applications are compatible with various operating systems and configurations.
- Removes impediments to the ability of the team to deliver and is keenly focused on the activities and progress of the Agile project team.
- Timeline and Budget/Expenses; Obtain and align resources to key project roles; establish clearly defined responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Facilitate business and technology project routines to support the active management and disposition of decisions, issues and risks.
- Responsible for weekly reporting and outlining project timelines, risks, issues, financials.
- Manage deliverables and priorities with management and business stakeholders
- Coordinate and work closely with Bas and testers to conduct testing cycles; acceptance criteria, unit testing, QA and user acceptance testing.
Key Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience as technical lead at L2/L3.
- At least 2 years of experience with VMware App Volumes Manager, Lifecycle management and deployment.
- Experience in supporting, troubleshooting and implementing of big enterprise.
- VMware, Microsoft Application Virtualization, Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to collaborate well with users and cross functional and offshore teams.
- Process driven and strong documentation experience.
- Ability to learn quickly.
Good-to-have Skills:
- Scripting skills (e.g., Power Shell, Python).
- Experience with SQL.
- Change control process in MNC environment.
- Windows Active Directory and access management.
