The Role: Staff Data Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Data Scientist to join our team. As a Principal Data Scientist, you will lead the development and implementation of advanced data science solutions to address complex business challenges. You will be responsible for leveraging cutting-edge techniques in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data mining to extract insights from large datasets and drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, proven leadership abilities, and a track record of delivering impactful solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of innovative data science solutions to solve complex business problems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, requirements, and success criteria.
• Apply advanced machine learning algorithms and statistical techniques to analyze large datasets and extract actionable insights.
• Develop predictive models, optimization algorithms, and other analytical tools to support decision-making processes.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
• Engage with customers to understand their needs, challenges, and goals, and translate them into data science solutions that drive value.
• Lead and facilitate workshops, meetings, and presentations to gather requirements, communicate findings, and solicit feedback from stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and related fields, and evaluate their applicability to our business challenges.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to key stakeholders through clear and compelling visualizations, reports, and presentations.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in data science, including data quality assessment, feature engineering, model evaluation, and deployment.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate data science solutions into production systems and ensure scalability, reliability, and performance.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 7-9 years of experience in a data science role, with a track record of delivering impactful solutions to complex business problems.
• Expertise in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data mining techniques, with hands-on experience in tools such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
• Strong programming skills and proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, or TensorFlow.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka is preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
• Strong leadership abilities with a demonstrated track record of leading and mentoring teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to manage teams, be a capable mentor.
• Adept at client facing roles, capable of contributing to business development when needed.
• Willing to travel as and when needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
2. Knowledge of deep learning techniques and frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
3. Experience working in industries such as e-commerce, banking & and finance, or telecommunications.
4. Certifications in data science or related fields (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate).
