Position Summary:
The Systems Integration Engineer/Scientist 1 will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and help create genomic analysis tools used in the leading edge of scientific and clinical research. This position will participate in the development of high quality, robust products through the integration of hardware, software, and chemistry components. They will execute test plans in order to optimize product performance.
Responsibilities:
- Hands-on testing and integration of systems - hardware, software, chemistry, and application components
- Reliably execute experiments and test plans, collect data, report issues and summarize results
- Regularly communicate experimental results & observations in group settings.
- Understand the relationship between test conditions and controls such that each are completed correctly to yield valid data.
- Able to contribute to investigation of technical problems, working on problems of defined scope
- Follow standard procedures and protocols to support verification and validation activities.
- Operates systems with a customer point of view related to usability, safety, and efficient workflows. Contributes to content of user guides.
- Tracks & maintains lab supplies & consumable inventory for projects.
- With increasing proficiency, able to instruct others in system operation. E.g, provide support to manufacturing FIT, external alpha/beta testing

Requirements:
- Understanding of sequencing systems and techniques in general, fundamental understanding of one of the core disciplines at an undergraduate level
- Ability to describe the steps and components required to execute an E2E workflow across the interfaces of sample preparation, sequencing, and analysis
- Basic wet laboratory experience
- Understand the value of hardware and software configuration management, especially for breadboard and prototype systems.
- Rudimentary ability to perform some engineering work (repairs or modifications) following instructions
- Programming experience is strongly desired (Python, Perl, LabView, etc.)
- A desire to be a part of a fast paced, multidisciplinary and dynamic environment.
- Open minded and comfortable to expand knowledge to other core disciplines
- Solid communication and writing skills

Experience/Education:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biology or related field; or equivalent work experience.
