Quality Systems Specialist

Position Overview:

Leads Quality reviews of proposals, contracts, regulatory, program and customer requirements ensuring early quality involvement in program development. Develops Quality budget and cost estimates. Leads multi-function, multi-site groups to develop company directives, policies, processes, procedures and metrics to assure program, contract, customer, regulatory requirements, international standards and working agreements are deployed. Leads stakeholders in analysis of process data, metrics, models and flows to identify root cause of complex problems and development and implementation of preventive or corrective actions. Conducts research, compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics to continuously improve process capability. Conducts quality source selection and process capability assessments of suppliers' ability to meet program quality requirements and support business decisions. Develops Quality criteria for supplier source selection and a coordinated response for review and approval by senior management. Develops scope, schedule, plans and leads hardware, software and system level audits to determine compliance with quality management system standards, configuration assurance, related business, regulatory and customer requirements, and reports results to management. Trains senior management on preparation for third party audits. Analyzes data to provide material review dispositions for complex nonconforming materials, parts and equipment. Assists in the development of new standard repairs for nonconforming materials, parts and equipment. Works under minimal direction.


Quality Systems Specialist (Maintenance and Freighter Conversions) represent the Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation. This candidate will be responsible for providing Quality support for Boeing Global Services - Modifications, Maintenance and Freighter Conversions. This position will be considered for a virtual work environment in the state the candidate resides when on-site project activities are not required.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports processes and systems that ensure the reliability, quality and system safety of company or procured products and services.
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams through Corrective Action Board (CAB) reviews in support of Modification and Freighter Conversion discrepancies and process improvement initiatives.
  • Utilization of the Electronic Corrective Action Tool System (E-CATS) will be required to support CAB initiatives for tracking any related containment items and corrective action measures related to the Modification & Freighters discrepancies identified.
  • Utilizing the Non-Conformance Corrective Action Tool (NCAT) in support of CAB and E-CATS activities related to any containment and corrective action measures.
  • Lead as the Process Counsel as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all processes across our Maintenance, Modification and Freighters organizations.
  • Leading all internal Records and Information Management (RIM) compliance efforts being developed and maintained for retention of organizational records.
  • Self-Evaluation focal, coordinating schedules, self-assessments and any related corrective actions while maintaining the status, visibility and associated metrics for visibility.
  • As a Designated Regulatory Organization (DRO) focal, you will review Request For Conformity (RFC) documents for completeness and correctness against the associated procedures and release them in support of conformity activity as well as follow-up with any initiatives, and close out when completed through the RFC system for all BGS projects, including Type Inspection Authorizations.
  • Be knowledgeable and a leader with the Boeing Safety Management System (SMS) and the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Be knowledge in ISO9000/AS9100 Quality requirements, Six Sigma & lean methodology, to include problem solving tools such as Root Cause Analysis/Corrective Action/Preventative Action principles.
  • Lead teams through project improvement efforts, lean and process improvement initiatives to ensure continuous improvement to achieve organizational and company objectives.
  • Utilize the Boeing Problem Solving Models (BPSM) to set expectations, remove roadblocks and enable organizations to contain the problem, define & describe the problem or opportunity, identify root causes, identify and validate proposed solutions, and sustain the gains by ensuring effective root cause corrective actions are being implemented and followed through.
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining metrics, models, charts, graphs from various sources, systems and Microsoft, or similar applications to ensure the visibility and adherence to ensure the health of the Mods & Freighters is being maintained.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
  • May be participating in periodic audits of various areas and aspects of the business and/or organization to ensure compliance to process and procedural standards.
  • Will also serve as an organizational focal point for manager and internal employees. Interfaces with company employees, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs work with minimal direction and exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with Quality and/or Safety Corrective Action/Preventative Action, Root Cause Corrective Actions and experience using or applying metrics to measure performance against projects to ensure high quality delivery
  • 5+ years implementing process and/or strategy improvements
  • 5+ years experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
  • 1+years of experience working with Problem Solving Models
  • 3+ years of experience in the deployment and administration of policies, procedures, and processes
  • 3+ years of determining and developing Charts and Matrix for organizational tracking and opportunities
  • Ability to work flexible hours, overtime and occasional weekends when necessary
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Leading Corrective Action Boards/Teams
  • Experience with FAA Conformity Requirements
  • 5+years experience working within FAA regulations (highly desired)
  • 1+years of experience with document and records management
  • Experience with Electronic Corrective Tracking System (E-CATS)
  • 1+years of experience auditing to quality system standards
  • 1+years experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • 1+ years of experience in performing risk assessments and risk management (highly desired)
  • Knowledgeable of lean principles and practices
  • Knowledgeable of six sigma methodologies
