Vehicle Technician (Heavy Trucks)
We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician to join our team, specializing in the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty trucks. This role involves performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems while adhering to high standards of quality and safety.
Ideally the candidate will have extensive knowledge of vehicle systems, be proactive in ensuring productivity, and maintain compliance with industry best practices and manufacturer guidelines.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting with guidance from Team Leaders when necessary.
- Accurately identify and recommend parts for repairs in the Work Order.
- Carry out service maintenance tasks, including:
- Power steering diagnostics and repair
- Engine overhaul
- ESCOT control housing, gearbox, and rear axle overhaul
- Electrical system fault tracing, advanced multimeter measurements, and wiring repair
- Emission-related system repairs and calibration/programming using Tech Tool
- Perform all types of repairs including mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Record detailed repair time and notes in the Work Order and maintain constant communication with the Team Leader.
- Adhere to warranty procedures and manage warranty parts accordingly.
- Ensure work bay housekeeping and maintain accountability for tools and equipment.
- Maintain ethical compliance in the use of genuine parts and perform repairs in line with manufacturer checklists and standards.
- Lead by example in ensuring a high level of Health & Safety compliance.
- Attend upgrading courses and be prepared to respond to breakdowns, holding a valid Class 3/4 driving license.
- Carry out any additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- NITEC in Automotive Technology, or former NTC 3/2 in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics, or a Diploma in Automotive Engineering or related field.
- Preferred: Valid Class 3/4/5 driving license (Singapore).
- 4-6 years of experience in servicing and repairing heavy trucks (Japanese and Continental brands).
- Strong understanding of vehicle principles, engine, transmission, and brake systems.
- Proficiency in using multimeters and reading vehicle electrical circuit diagrams.
- Advanced knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic systems of heavy vehicles.
