Research and Development Specialist - Regenerative Medicine

We are actively seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our team as Research and Development Specialists. In these roles, you will play a pivotal part in pushing the boundaries of regenerative medicine. Specifically, your contributions will be instrumental in the creation of cornea tissues from adult stem cells, and the exploration of applications in cell replacement therapy. Key Responsibilities:

Research Biologist - Regenerative Medicine Frontiers:

1. Cellular Expansion & Differentiation Projects:

- Lead the development of cornea tissues from adult stem cells, playing a pivotal role in advancing tissue/organ replacement and regenerative medicine.

- Cultivate, test, and characterize cells, employing innovative strategies and formulating efficient media formulas to ensure the optimal quality of cell therapy.

- Gain exposure in the chemistry and engineering of collagen and collagen sheets, integral components for generating biomimetic human corneas.


2. Laboratory Operations and Maintenance:

- Collect, prepare, analyze, dissect, and evaluate specimens and tissue cultures to support ongoing research initiatives.

- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, actively contributing to the overall efficiency and organization of the laboratory.

- Execute a variety of assays, tests, and research studies with precision and accuracy.


3. Data Analysis and Documentation:

- Perform calculations to interpret and present research test results, conduct statistical analysis of laboratory data.

- Maintain meticulous documentation, utilizing computer databases and performing basic procedures for computer-assisted data analysis.


4. Techniques and Analysis:

- Prepare stock chemical solutions, provide solutions, and handle radioisotope solutions safely and effectively.

- Conduct immunohistology and image analysis, utilizing immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence techniques on frozen and archived biopsy specimens.

- Execute extractions of nucleic acids from blood and biopsy specimens, conduct PCR experiments, and perform detailed analysis, including quantitative PCR.


5. Research Content Preparation:

- Prepare research findings for publication in scientific journals, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge in the field.

- Compile comprehensive reports detailing methodologies, results, and conclusions for internal and external stakeholders.

- Contribute to the development of intellectual property by actively participating in the preparation and submission of patent applications.


6. Communication and Presentation:

- Effectively communicate research progress and findings to team members, collaborators, and stakeholders.

- Present research outcomes at conferences, seminars, and other scientific forums to enhance the visibility of the organization's work.

- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of open communication and knowledge sharing.


7. Laboratory Documents:

- Check for up-to-date SOPs on key procedures.

- Ensure calibrations are performed at appropriate intervals by qualified personnel.

- Verify proper maintenance of calibration records.

- Check if a system exists for tracking inventory (chemicals, equipment, consumables).

- Evaluate the effectiveness of the system in maintaining accurate records.

- Observe the process of physically counting stock and comparing it to documented records.

- Ensure discrepancies are identified and addressed appropriately.

- Review procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing stock items.

- Verify proper authorization and documentation for these actions.

- Assess procedures for tracking expiry dates of chemicals and consumables.

- Ensure proper disposal methods are followed for expired or hazardous materials.



Qualifications:

- Degrees in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related field.

- At least 1-2 years’ experience in a research lab.

- Demonstrable interest in cell therapy and regenerative medicine.

- Proficiency in cell culture techniques, immunohistochemistry, and molecular biology methods.

- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, creativity, and eagerness to explore innovative solutions.

- Excellent communication skills and effective teamwork mindset.

- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.

- Experience in laboratory operations, equipment handling, and data analysis.
