Application Engineer

International Bearings Pte. Ltd.

The role plays a critical role in the technical sales process by providing expertise and support to customers. You will work closely with both the sales team and the engineering team to understand customer requirements and develop tailored solutions. Reporting to the Director of Sales, Domestic, you will lead our engineering department and be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and improvement of existing service levels that will serve our clients and business well. You will provide engineering support for Industrial and Automotive aftermarket businesses and direct OEM customers, ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitment, and goals.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Act as resident technological expert advisor for our products and liaison between customers and the engineering team, providing input on product enhancements, customization requests, and bug reports
  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and develop technical solutions that meet those needs
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify opportunities for product improvement and development based on customer feedback and market trends
  • Provide engineering support and services to regional offices, distribution channels, OEMS and end-user
  • Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, including system design, cost estimations, and project timelines.
  • Conduct product presentations and practical training seminars for internal staff as well as customers, channels, management, and others
  • Conduct feasibility studies and perform technical analysis to evaluate the compatibility of products with customer requirements.
  • Provide technical support to customers during pre-sales and post-sales stages, including troubleshooting, resolving technical issues, and answering product-related questions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies to provide valuable insights and recommendations to customers.
  • Adapt applications that effectively accomplish customer objectives and user needs
  • Connect with customers to analyze user experience and gain constructive feedback
  • Participate in trade shows, conferences, and industry events to promote products and establish strong relationships with customers.
  • Continuously update and maintain technical documentation, product manuals, and training materials for internal and external use.
  • Maintain an expert level of product knowledge and application

Tasks Include:

  • Strong technical knowledge in the relevant industry, including a deep understanding of products, systems, and applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think critically and analytically to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Strong presentation skills to deliver product demonstrations and technical training to internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills to oversee the implementation of technical solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The Successful Applicant:

  • Minimum Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 – 4 years experience (in Engineering/Manufacturing/Heavy Industry) preferred. Knowledge of rotary and linear bearings would be an advantage
  • Strong interest and customer-oriented mindset
  • Organized, structured, analytical, presentable, professional, as well as self-driven and motivated
  • Adept and effective communicator
  • Computer literacy is a must
  • Ability to handle customers' issues tactfully and professionally
  • Demonstrating project management abilities
