The Design Ethics and Visual Integrity Lab in the School of Art, Design and Media, founded by Assistant Professor Lisa Winstanley, is seeking a highly organized and skilled part-time Research Assistant. The successful candidate will be expected to work 21 hours per week.
The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge projects focused on addressing visual plagiarism, with the goal of developing, testing and implementing participatory design workshops for international and interdisciplinary design educators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitating the day-to-day operations of research projects
- Data compilation
- Maintaining accurate records of research participants, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary
- Transcribing and summarizing audio dialogue
- Performing data pre-processing and analysis
- Managing and maintaining project records
- Assisting in the preparation and writing of progress reports, presentations, abstracts, manuscripts and publications, including outputs aimed at the general public
- Creating visual materials both print based and visual for public communications
- Social media/online content creation and management
- Performing other ad hoc administrative duties to support the research projects
Job Requirements:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree
- Communicate in a friendly manner, excellent verbal & written communication in English is essential to conduct research, and interpersonal skills
- High degree of responsibility and maturity
- Ability to work independently
- Flexibility in responding to fluid situations
- High degree of competence in relevant software tools (Adobe Creative Suite/Microsoft office)
- Familiarity with project management software or willingness to learn
- Task-orientation, excellent organizational skills, attention to details and accuracy
- Experience in the field of graphic design and a strong understanding of graphic design principles is essential
