Position Overview:
The Senior Sales Director is responsible for managing and growing the business in South Asia, with both individual and team targets. This role demands a strong focus on personal sales performance, alongside leadership responsibilities in coaching, mentoring, and driving the team towards achieving their targets.
To excel in this role, the individual must have experience in the full spectrum of sales management—from developing strategic plans for assigned business lines to actively pursuing and closing high-value deals that contribute to personal and overall team success. The role carries accountability for the overall country target and requires a leader who not only directs the team but also leads by example in identifying, winning, retaining, and growing profitable customers aligned with the organization’s long-term goals.
Additionally, the individual will be responsible for driving the distribution of new applications within the region and achieving their associated sales targets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Performance:
- Achieve personal sales targets in addition to overseeing team goals: annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and long-term projections.
- Report on monthly results and business drivers, highlighting personal contributions and overall team performance.
- Update weekly sales outlook, focusing on individual and team sales achievements.
- Drive overall sales and revenue performance through both personal sales efforts and team leadership.
- Develop and coach the sales team to achieve and exceed their targets, ensuring alignment with personal sales goals.
Business Development and Innovation:
- Report on market trends and analytics, with a focus on identifying and pursuing opportunities for sales growth.
- Develop and sustain key client and influencer relationships, actively managing key accounts to drive individual sales.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in sales execution strategies, applying these approaches to personal and team sales activities.
- Lead key client engagements, ensuring long-term partnerships and personal sales contributions.
New Application Targets:
- Drive the introduction, promotion, and adoption of new applications within the region, ensuring these offerings meet assigned sales targets.
- Collaborate with product management and marketing teams to understand the features, benefits, and competitive positioning of new applications.
- Develop and execute sales strategies specifically targeted at expanding the market share of new applications.
- Identify potential customer segments and tailor sales pitches to meet the unique needs of these segments.
- Train and enable the sales team to effectively sell and support new applications, ensuring alignment with overall sales objectives.
- Monitor the performance of new applications in the market, providing feedback to relevant teams for continuous improvement.
- Report on the progress and challenges related to new application sales, ensuring timely adjustments to strategies as needed.
Communication:
- Deliver monthly business reporting with clear insights and recommendations, including personal and team sales performance updates.
- Conduct weekly meetings with direct reports to monitor progress and strategy, emphasizing the importance of individual sales accountability.
- Provide regional input to Datasite's shared functions to shape and influence global strategies (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Service, etc.).
Leadership:
- Help, coach, and mentor the team to enable them to drive performance, build alliances, and form partnerships, while leading by example with personal sales success.
- Develop, evaluate, train, and motivate colleagues in India and peers across the APAC region, with a focus on achieving both personal and team sales targets.
- Create and nurture strong, enduring relationships across the South Asia region (both existing and new clientele) and with Datasite stakeholders, leveraging these relationships for sales growth.
- Assist in recruitment to support stability and growth, driving talent acquisition and retention strategies that align with both team and personal sales goals.
- Promote Datasite through external events such as conferences, speaking engagements, and industry-led forums, with a focus on enhancing personal sales opportunities.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, drive, and shape outcomes from others, while consistently achieving personal sales targets.
