Job Summary
Support the laboratory bioinformatics team with administrative tasks, technical management, and daily genome sequence analysis. Collaborate with staff to ensure timely testing and resolve issues.
Main Duties
- Assist with technical support and application issues.
- Analyze data from sequencing databases.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software problems.
- Help with system upgrades and ensure policy compliance.
- Provide after-hours support if needed.
Quality Assurance
- Maintain laboratory databases and ensure proper function.
- Keep records and documentation accurate and organized.
- Help manage and update records.
Other
- Oversee pathogen sequences and databases.
- Improve laboratory workflows and processes.
- Participate in public health functions and investigations.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
General
- Follow hospital and lab policies on conduct, safety, and attendance.
- Work regular hours with possible after-hours and weekend coverage.
- Comply with safety procedures in a BSL2 lab.
- Assist with staff supervision and orientation.
- Maintain inventory and support equipment maintenance.
- Update quality manuals and perform administrative tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or related field.
- Strong problem-solving, detail-oriented, and collaborative skills with an interest in infectious diseases and public health.
