Overview
The National Institute of Education (NIE) is among the world’s top education institutes, recognised for its excellence in teacher education and educational research. NIE has played a key and pivotal role in shaping and developing Singapore’s teaching profession and landscape through evidence-informed, practice-focused and values-based programmes and initiatives. An autonomous institute situated within the research-intensive Nanyang Technological University, NIE is consistently ranked within the top 15 in the world for research impact in the field of Education.
The Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC) is a young research center with a vision is to become an international leader in Science of Learning in Education research. Hosted at the Office of Education Research (OER) in the National Institute of Education (NIE), the SoLEC conducts research that integrates insights from multiple fields, including neurosciences, cognitive science, psychology, sociology, education and other areas. The Centre is interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- cognitive neuroscience
- educational neuroscience
Candidates with appropriate qualifications and relevant research experience are encouraged to apply. We invite applications for the position of Education Research Scientist to join the SoLEC.
Requirements
- PhD in a relevant discipline
- Minimum 2 years of post-PhD experience
- Ability to lead a research team
- Track record in the following areas:
- High quality publications (please provide samples and information on the quality and impact of your work based on citations and ranking of journal publications)
- Planning and writing research project proposals that are funded through competitive peer-reviewed funding processes
- Independence in research (i.e. sole authorship/senior authorship of high-quality publications and invited presentations at conferences)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (spoken and written English)
- Ability to work with colleagues within a team
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement the centre’s research programme
- Take a leading role in the development of research projects and programmes and in seeking and pursuing appropriate external funding
- Disseminate the outcomes of research in peer-reviewed publications of international standing
- Support SoLEC in its efforts to impact practice and policy through research projects and programmes
- Manage and conduct administrative and management tasks associated with research or programme
- Participate in research of strategic importance to SoLEC, OER and NIE
Participate in the wider research and service activities of SoLEC, OER and NIE
