The Crude Oil Trader will be responsible for developing a proprietary oil derivatives trading business within the Crude Trading department and trade phycisal crude cargos to achieve a sustainable growth in earnings.
- Proprietary trading of crude oil book and benchmark Trading, including North Sea, Middle East WTI.
- Use instruments including swaps, futures and options including directional and relative value to express flat price views and to hedge physical cargo.
- Trade at the front end of the curve out to three to six months, up to twelve months
- Perform trading analysis, Taking a view of the market with the aid of internal analytical work, supply/demand views, margins, sentiment, communication with counterparties etc
- Constructing within group trading strategies, global views and methods for maximizing JV global asset base
- Speculating trading by trading flat-price, Brent/Dubai WTI Brent arbs, boxes, Brent and WTI Dubai spreads
- Identify trading opportunities and execute plans to create value for the Company
- Taking on significant trading risk, managing this risk and generating profits for the Company
- Communicating market intelligence to other members of the Crude Oil trading Team
- Maintaining and developing significant relationships with external counterparties
Job Requirements
- Educated to degree level as a pre-requisite requirement in a numeric / financial discipline
- Understanding oil fundamentals, products, grades, qualities, geopolitical and environmental influence on commodity markets
- Understanding price exposure, risk profile, all related trading instruments and technical trading
- Solid knowledge of typical trading counterparties and a strong network
- Hedge fund, investment bank or trade house prop seat background / experience is desired, or Minimum 14 years relevant experience in the business of crude oil or products industry
- Proven yearly independant P/L success of 10 million USD
