JOB SCOPE

  • Assist the manager in managing the iSeries Product and Operation Services.
  • Manage the iSeries operations activities to meet the OLA/SLA.
  • Develop and update of Standard Operational Procedure, Operation Procedures.
  • Provide iSeries support to both IT and business user.
  • Manage and escalate system operation and application issues timely to management.
  • Ensure all System Backup activities are completed successfully.
  • Ensure System Disaster recovery readiness and successful execution of DR testing.
  • Manage the High Availability iSeries System environment.
  • Pro-active monitoring and maintenance of multiple iSeries servers and applications.
  • Manage the Risk and Security & Vulnerability remediation for iSeries in compliance to the security best practices.
  • Manage third party software, ensure they are updated according to the support lifecycle.
  • Responsible for Firmware and OS upgrades, Performance Tuning, Capacity Planning, PTF installation.
  • Work with multiple vendors on the implementation of iSeries support, lifecycle upgrade and project.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Degree in Information Technology / Services related curriculum preferred
  • Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree

CERTIFICATION

  • Formal IBM iSeries training and/or IBM certification preferred
  • Formal training and certification in System Management, e.g. ITIL foundation

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10+ years hands-on experience in an iSeries environment
  • Experience in managing iSeries AS400 operations.
  • Experience in ITIL and processes in Service Request, Incident, problem and change management.
  • Experience of one or more of the following:
  • Remote Journaling / High Availability concept.
  • Backup and Recovery on Flashcopy, BRMS, Safe Guarded Copy, NIM for VIOS backup.
  • Security management in iSeries System and Application, user profiles, object authorities, system values .
  • IBM i OS V7R3, V7R5, IBM VIOS Virtual Machine Environment.
  • IBM PowerHA, ASP & iASP Disk configuration and administration.
  • IBM EIM implementation for Single Sign on.
  • 1 or more system replication software – e.g. iTera, Assured Mimix.
  • Network configuration for TCP/IP protocol, Route and Host Tables, Firewall Rules.
  • IBM SAN storage and SAN Switches, FC multipath configuration.
  • System performance tuning, performance, and alert monitoring.
  • Firmware, Patch, PTF, CUM Package ordering/installation.
  • Query/400 – SQL/400, DB2 and performance tuning.
  • Third party software, e.g. iTera, Assured Mimix, Optimizer, Fortra Powertech Exit Point, Authority broker, compliant monitor, Antivirus, System monitoring tool.
  • Working knowledge on ACSC and Infinium advantages.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

  • IT processes, policies and procedures.
  • Hand on experience and knowledge of iSeries application structure, operating system, installation specifications, troubleshooting, problem determination and data restoration techniques.
  • Knowledge of and experience in personal computers and Microsoft products.
  • Mature and strong leadership skill to lead both technical and service operation management.
  • Enthusiastic and a strong desire to learn, quick leaner to adopt to fast changing environment.
  • Organized and detail oriented. Ability to apply knowledge into practical support, identified and resolve potential pitfall upfront to avoid costly rework and service impact.
  • Strong ability in handling multiple tasks stream, ability to priority critical / important task.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting with multiple technical team.
  • Must be able to meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to departmental and company policies.
  • Possess excellent communication skills; able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be willing and available to work on remote standby duty including occasional weekends when required.
