Responsibilities
- Develop and implement best practices to maximise wine sales and cost efficiencies, both within restaurant concepts and through retail channels to customers and businesses
- Work closely with venue leaders to manage all aspects of wine and beverage purchasing (within stipulated budget guidelines), inventory, storage and reporting
- Build strong wine and beverage training programs, facilitating training to all service team members to execute world class wine and beverage service to guests
- Develop a strong and continuously evolving wine and beverage program
- Lead wine workshops, industry tastings and events to generate interest in wine offerings and grow clientele
- Establish and foster strong relationships with wine and beverage suppliers, ensuring the best products and pricing are available to the business
- Keep abreast and research on recent and upcoming wine and beverage trends in the industry, developing strategies that capitalises on prevailing market conditions and consumer trends
Qualifications
- At least 6 years relevant experience in hospitality with a focus in wine and/or beverages, with a proven track record of driving wine and beverage sales
- Have at least a WSET Level 3 in wines and/or Advanced Sommelier Certificate from the Court of Master Sommeliers
- Experience in running a diverse wine portfolio, including list selection, purchasing, inventory management, staff training etc.
- Extensive knowledge of wines and wine characteristics; food and wine pairing
- Knowledge of beverage inventory and cost management
- Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation regulations
