We are looking for a finance editor based in Asia to help steer our coverage of the fast-moving, ever-evolving banking and investing landscape in the region.
You will work with an experienced group of journalists across teams and bureaus on fast breaking stories and ambitious enterprise projects that bring sophisticated tales to life for our discerning readers. You'll work on core Bloomberg stories that chronicle the latest developments and changes at some of the world's largest banks, asset managers, property developers and financial regulators from Japan and Australia to Singapore and India.
We're seeking someone with experience in high-paced news environment who is meticulous on details and brings clarity to stories. You should have sharp and confident news judgment and be versatile enough to handle coverage on a wide variety of topics. You are also a teammate who can bring together contributors from a range of teams and geographies to deliver the best exclusives. We'll also expect you to leverage Bloomberg's global newsroom and multiple platforms -- including video, audio and social media -- to amplify our best work across many formats.
We'll trust you to:
- Make fast and critical judgement calls to identify the most important stories as well as gaps in coverage
- Work closely with reporters and produce streamlined edits that resonate with a diverse audience -- from our most sophisticated terminal users to our diverse base of online readers
- Produce quick, thoughtful and smart pieces in addition to richly detailed longer-form features
- Be comfortable working with veteran reporters and mentoring new talent
- Maintain a culture of innovation, and develop new ways to gain the reader’s imagination
- Promote diversity of thought and representation throughout our coverage
You'll need to have:
- At least three years of recent experience in journalism
- Experience working in a real-time news environment
- Experience editing finance, markets, business, or economy-related stories
- Strong writing skills and the ability to produce sophisticated stories in a fast-paced global environment and meet urgent deadlines
- Confidence to handle this-just-in type of breaking news, scoops and long-form enterprise
- Sound news judgement and a talent for looking beyond the obvious story
- Demonstrated ability to break down silos and communicate across teams, groups, platforms and regions
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
- Bachelor's degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
