Data Centre Operator

Singapore Pools (private) Limited.

We are looking for a passionate and professional Data Centre Operator to join our Infrastructure Operations team.

Based in Singapore and reporting to the Data Centre Supervisor, the incumbent will be required to verify hardware status and actively monitor execution of application, system software and hardware to ensure systems are operationally ready. The right individual will also be required to prepare incident reports and ensure all backup tapes at onsite and offsite storage are accounted for and support system failover and disaster recovery.

What You'll Do

  • You will actively monitor execution of all systems and verify the status and availability of hardware, severs security, file system space, system cluster, databases for operation etc.
  • You will activate, maintain and update EOD batch jobs and records and ensure completion of previous EOD jobs.
  • You will execute daily backup operations for onsite on offsite storage as well as ad-hoc data backup and restore.
  • You will execute re-boot procedure for all servers, monitor and record environmental status of Computer Room.
  • You will control and monitor the execution of application, system software and hardware on system console to maintain timely delivery of system services.
  • You will interpret console message generated from system software / application system and provide response promptly.
  • You will provide Tier 1 support to users and escalate when necessary, prepare incident report and re-route to appropriate support staff.
  • You will prepare daily printouts for distribution to users.
  • You will coordinate with hardware vendor on system hardware issue.
  • You will train new personnel in duties and responsibilities.
  • You will participate in defining operation procedures and instructions.
  • You will assure the processing of the tape management utility programs.
  • You will label and code newly created tapes with processing / retention information for identification of files stored on them.
  • You will control and coordinate the flow of tapes between onsite and offsite location.
  • You will control the checking of tapes in and out of the locations.
  • You will recycle tapes for re-use after stipulated time of retention and maintain adequate supply of reusable tapes.
  • You will identify cartridges kept at offsite storage.
  • You will attend monthly inventory checking of the tape to verify proper movement of all tapes.
  • You will provide practical training on failover procedure for critical system.
  • You will execute and verify the procedures implemented on the primary and secondary systems are operational.
  • You will check the front-end devices are operated according to operation needs at secondary system when failover.
  • You will support the disaster recovery exercise.

Who You Are

  • You will need a Diploma in Computer Studies.
  • You should have more than 2 years of related experience.
  • You should have knowledge of AIX, Linux and Microsoft Windows Operating System.
  • You have experience in working with Veritas NetBackup software, HP OpenView tools, etc.
  • You must be detail-oriented and able to work effectively across teams within or outside of Group IT.
  • You must be equipped with PC skills like Officer 365, Visio, Microsoft Products, e.g Teams, OneDrive, etc.
  • You will communicate and educate operational teams (stakeholders and staff) to conduct gaming operations in an efficient, responsible manner and adhering to the relevant regulatory guidelines, company processes and procedures and certifying the operations to ISO9001, ISO27001 and World Lottery Association standards in a highly regulated and demanding environment.
  • You will communicate and convince internal and external auditors that the operational, procedural and process efficiency are in accordance with the regulatory and company standards and guidelines.
  • You will communicate and educate internal and external stakeholders to comply with Singapore Pools' highly demanding and stringent procurement standards and protocols while adhering to tight project timelines.
