The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.
A Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow position is currently available in the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Virology (Principal Investigator: Yaw Shin Ooi). The successful candidate will perform a variety of functions related to research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his designate, including but not limited to:
- Independently carry out the design and execution of experimental research required by the research component of the project.
- Write research papers and grant proposals, present research outcomes, and develop collaborative ties with local and international researchers.
- Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting, and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
- Contribute to project management and provide guidance to junior researchers, such as undergraduate interns, research assistants, and graduate students.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Job Requirements
- PhD in Virology, Cell Biology, Genetics or other related disciplines.
- Prior experience in molecular virology, cell biology of RNA virus infections, in vivo models, bioinformatics (e.g., bulk/single-cell RNAseq analysis), various CRISPR-based genome editing techniques, human organoids, live cell imaging, and would be advantageous..
- Possess excellent organisational and interpersonal communication skills, with strong written and presentation abilities.
- A strong team player who can work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.
