Job Description
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers, both physical and virtual, to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues using system logs, network tools, and other resources.
- Support system upgrades and patches by implementing updates to Linux-based operating systems, applications, and security patches.
- Help manage user accounts, file systems, and permissions in accordance with organizational policies.
- Participate in backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Collaborate with the team to enhance system automation through scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
- Maintain system documentation and assist with technical support requests related to Linux environments.
- Ensure the security of Linux systems by applying standard security practices, including firewall management, access control, and regular audits.
- Support the Senior Linux Systems Engineer in optimizing system architecture and resolving complex issues.
Requirements
- Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Basic knowledge of Linux-based operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat).
- Familiarity with shell scripting (Bash) and an interest in learning other languages like Python.
- Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
- Eagerness to learn and stay updated with new technologies and best practices.
- Experience with Security best practices and hardening will be valuable
