This position is offered on an initial two year full-time fixed term basis. We are seeking a research active academic with a proven track record of effective teaching and experience in the field of Accounting & Finance. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Teaching:
Should have the ability to address the following topics through different modules and subjects -
- Management Accounting - The range of cost determination models are explored in terms of their consistency with governing accounting principles and the usefulness of the cost measures for management's decision-making needs
- Financial Accounting for Reporting Entities - preparation of external financial reports including statement of comprehensive income, statement of changes in equity, statement of financial position and statement of cash flows
- Contemporary Accounting Issues - the course evaluates issues arising from the use of financial accounting data and management accounting which consists of accounting in a changing organisational environment, analysing performance, internal financial measurement framework and strategic profitability.
- Accounting Theory - Various issues associated with the formulation of accounting theory are investigated along with accounting regulation and accounting research
- Auditing & Assurance - the major conceptual and technical aspects of auditing, financial statement audits conducted under the Corporations Law, the risk-based approach to auditing.
Research:
- Establish research programs and develop applications for external research funding;
- Engage in collaboratively research;
- Conduct research and publish journal articles and conference papers.
Administration:
- Take an active role in the development of curricula for the Accounting & Finance programs;
- Take an active role implementing quality assurance processes;
- Contribute to the decision making process.
Selection Criteria
- Minimum a PhD in Accounting & Finance or related discipline
- Proven track record of effective undergraduate teaching in the field of Accounting & Finance
- Relevant professional experience in the Accounting & Finance industry
- An understanding of emerging issues in the accounting sector
- Demonstrated research record including scholarly publications in academic journals
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate undergraduate courses
