Purpose of the Role


  • Provide regional strategic & operational leadership over all Medical Affairs (MA) activities for the respective TA.
  • Demonstrate Matrix Leadership by developing and maintaining integrated partnership with stakeholders.
  • Ensure all MA Deliverables address local business needs to bring value to patients and advance the medical/scientific understanding of Astellas products to help ensure safe and appropriate use across their lifecycle.

What you will do includes:


  • To develop a clear understanding and insight into the therapeutic area objectives. To support and constructively challenge the development of such objectives where clarity is lacking.
  • Ensure medical input to the therapeutic area brand teams including the planning, preparation and approval of:
  1. internal and external scientific product presentations
  2. publication plan development, implementation, and scientific materials
  3. external meetings, advisory boards, and symposia
  • Provides strategic leadership and direction on the respective TA to ensure all activities/deliverables are based on scientific validity, clinical importance, fiscal feasibility and aligned to both the Core Medical Plans and local business needs.
  • Strategically leverage regional and/or global medical initiatives to meet local business needs, while maintaining an enterprise view.
  • Maintains an integrated partnership with Medical Affairs and cross-functional colleagues to identify collaborative opportunities, ensure optimal alignment, leverage resources, and support business priorities.
  • Be part and actively participate in the CMT core team to convey the needs of the region.
  • Maintains a frequent communication channel with the affiliates to inform about relevant updates from CMT and other forums and supports strong relationships with advocacy stakeholder.
  • Co-leads the regional brand team for the assigned product/TA.
  • Leads the regional CMP process of review and approval of studies and tactics proposals, liaising with the global medical team to ensure the proposals are aligned with the integrated brand strategy.

What you will need:


  • Minimum education level acceptable: MD, PhD or PharmD.
  • 5-7 years’ industry experience in Medical Affairs
  • Prior exposure to the TA – Women’s Health (in industry and/or in clinical practice).
  • Launched Specialty products and drove LCM planning.
  • Experience with later stage development with demonstrated success as both a strategist and a tactician.
  • Moderately frequent international travel
