Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced System Specialist (Mainframe) who can work as z/OS Systems Programmer to manage and support Host Network systems.
Mandatory Skill-set
- Has 5-10 years working with z/OS Mainframe systems, including Host Networks VTAM, SNA, TCP/IP, Infoprint, and z/OS Unix;
- Encryption Knowledge and understanding of and experience with enterprise encryption technologies, including TCPIP AT/TLS and SSL/TLS;
- Experience with third-party tools like Omegamon, LDAP, and SSH;
- Ability to install, configure, and maintain TCP/IP setups, Infoprint printers, and z/OS Unix system libraries;
- Monitor and resolve performance issues related to TCP/IP, Infoprint, and z/OS Unix/USS;
- Work with application teams to ensure their applications run efficiently on TCP/IP and Infoprint;
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Desired Skill-set
- Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as REXX, COBOL, JCL, and TSO/ISPF;
- Skills in setting up, configuring, and maintaining mainframe TCP/IP in a z/OS Parallel Sysplex environment;
- Perform tuning to optimize TCP/IP system performance;
- Support automation of processes and maintain documentation for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing technical support for Host Network systems, including TCP/IP, Infoprint, and the z/OS Unix environment;
- System Setup and Maintenance, Install, configure, and maintain TCP/IP networks, Infoprint printers, and z/OS Unix system libraries;
- Regularly check the performance of TCP/IP, Infoprint, and z/OS Unix/USS systems, and address any performance issues;
- Tune and optimize TCP/IP systems to ensure they operate efficiently;
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems related to TCP/IP, Infoprint, and z/OS Unix/USS systems, including coordinating with IBM and other vendors when needed;
- Work with application teams to ensure that their applications perform well with TCP/IP and Infoprint systems;
- Support automation of processes and keep documentation up-to-date for standard operating procedures;
- Help with backup and recovery planning, as well as testing disaster recovery processes;
- Participate in regular reviews and audits of system configurations;
- Communicate effectively and work well with other team members and departments.
