MANAGER (Chief-of-Staff in-training)
The ideal candidate is a driven, high energy and entrepreneurial-minded individual who is eager to roll up sleeves to make a difference. You would have a background in Business, Sciences, and/or Engineering. You should also have experience in operations. Familitiary with running innovation programmes, scoping projects with corporates and managing community relationships as well as with the services, operations and processes of consulting and research organisations are highly valuable.
REPORTS TO
Managing Partner
GOAL
The candidate is expected to develop into a full fledged Chief of Staff over the next 12 months and to improve the information flow of all functions to help the Managing Partner succeed.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate shall:
- Shadow and be the Managing Partner’s #2;
- Develop a firm grasp on the core and side business models of the company as well as their respective processes;
- Support the Managing Partner with business development and expansion activities, including managing government and senior client relations;
- Managing the company’s ecosystem to support the building of in-house ventures and the scaling of ventures, including making sure the company has access to partners and resources for Technology Due Diligence, Business Case Building, Prototyping, and Funding Pitches; and
- Carry end-responsibility to ensure all functions of the company work in tandem smoothly to support the core and side businesses of the company, including corporate, finance, HR, legal, operations and partnerships.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
The ideal candidate should:
- Be an expert generalist across commercial and technical functions to connect the dots sharply and quickly.
- Have a minimum of 5 years' work experience, with at least 2 years of experience in project/acceleration management or overseeing operations and processes, and another 2 in technology evaluation, consulting, or R&D.
- Have excellent organisational and leadership skills, with a thorough understanding of programme and project management principles. Experience in corporate governance, managing company stakeholders, technology scouting, IP evaluation, and/or technology due diligence is highly desirable.
- Possess strong business acumen with both strategic and operational ability, understanding data analysis, reporting, and budgeting.
- Be able to convince others to pursue a course of action without coming across too strongly, with good negotiation skills.
- Have experience in client-facing roles in both startups and large corporate environments. Familiarity with startup ecosystems and venture capital processes is a plus.
