Role Summary: We are seeking an Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of general corporate experience, ideally with exposure to clinical practice and/or healthcare private equity in Southeast Asia. You will work closely with in-house counsel, supporting day-to-day commercial agreements, document management, and compliance, while also helping to structure and scale the legal function to meet the company’s growing needs. The role will involve legal research, independent thinking, and the ability to issue spot and propose creative solutions to novel and complex challenges. Fluency in Chinese is a strong advantage (spoken and written). This is a remote role with a preference for candidates based in Bali, Indonesia, but we are also considering candidates in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Manila.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support in-house counsel with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements (e.g., vendor agreements, partnership agreements, sales contracts).
- Assist in managing the company’s document management system and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
- Provide general compliance support, including maintaining corporate governance standards and monitoring relevant legal developments.
- Help structure and build out the legal functions of a growing company.
- Collaborate with internal departments on various legal matters and provide guidance to ensure business goals are achieved in compliance with legal requirements.
- Assist with managing external counsel across multiple regions to ensure consistent legal support and advice.
- Conduct legal research on healthcare, corporate, and private equity matters relevant to the company's operations.
- Issue spot and think independently to propose and consider creative solutions to novel and complex legal issues.
- Draft and revise policies, procedures, and internal guidelines as needed.
Requirements:
- J.D. or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 1-2 years at a large law firm in a relevant field.
- 3-5 years of experience in general corporate law, ideally with exposure to healthcare private equity.
- Familiarity with commercial agreements, corporate governance, and compliance matters.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in Southeast Asia.
- Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) is highly desirable.
