Your Responsibilities:
The Junior Fermentation Engineer will be responsible for working with fermentation scientists in developing optimized culture conditions for newly developed or existing production strains from our customers, the successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks related to fermentation technology. These can include strain propagation, bench top and pilot scale fermentations, operation of laboratory equipment/ instrumentation, media preparation, sample collection and analysis, as well as operation of equipment such as HPLC, spectrophotometer, biochemistry analyser etc.
Junior Fermentation Engineer will be based at our main facility at Tuas (Singapore) and occasionally assisting the lab in Biopolis and will be reporting to the QA/QC Manager.
- Preparing and operating bioreactor systems for submerged fermentation.
- Conducting HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) analysis for productions samples.
- Conducting biochemical assays such as Enzymatic Assays, Protein Quantification Assays, SDS Page etc.
- Routine microbiological testing and cell counting of process samples;
- Developing laboratory procedures and protocols for various analytical and microbiological tests;
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other quality team members, engineers and management professionals;
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the progress timeline in new product/process development;
- Ensure safe working practice in laboratory to meet or exceed safety goals.
Your Profile:
- Min Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field;
- Prior experience with benchtop bioreactors is essential;
- Experience in using analytical tools like HPLC, spectrophotometer is desirable;
- Industrial experience would be a plus, e.g. food, pharma, fermentation;
- Proficient in spoken and written English for effective communication;
- Strong communication and organization skills, be able to multi-task and exhibit a strong sense of urgency in order to accomplish daily tasks;
- Be self-motivated with the ability to manage time and priorities; must be able to work independently in a team environment, maintain a positive attitude;
