This position reports to the Head of ESL and assists in meeting the overall academic needs of students who are identified as needing English Language Support.
Responsibilities
- Give in-class language support to students with identified needs and co-teach and collaborate with the classroom teacher
- Deliver/Teach English Language Support lessons that support overall literacy and curriculum covered in English and other core subjects
- Gather research for use within ESL classes and deliver teaching that reflects best practices for differentiation and language teaching and learning
- Design tools for implementing learning strategies such as sticker charts, worksheets, cards, posters, etc. (This will involve printing and sometimes laminating)
- Make classroom observations on students, which will help determine whether they require support
- Maintain student data and information and make available to stakeholders
- Participate in staff meetings as directed by the Head of ESL
- Participate in ESL department meetings
- Conduct WIDA testing as and when needed for new students, during term time or during school holidays and assist with implementing assessment of ESL students
- Any ad-hoc academic duties as requested by Academic Directors
