SPH Media is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Product Designer to join our Digital Media Products Team. As the Lead Product Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping and enhancing the user experience of our digital media products and the future of News media locally and as well as regionally.
The Digital Media Products team is a highly collaborative unit where we work on a variety of products and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create compelling and user-centric designs.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and manage a team of product designers, providing guidance and support in their design work.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders, to align design goals with business objectives.
- Define and enforce design processes and best practices, ensuring consistency and efficiency in design workflows.
- Conduct user research and gather insights to inform design strategies and decision-making.
- Oversee the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs, ensuring they meet user needs and business requirements. Occasionally, step in to execution if needed.
- Advocate for user-centred design principles and promote a user-centric mindset within the organisation.
- Monitor and analyse user feedback and data to continuously improve the user experience.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating them into design strategies when appropriate.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to establish and drive the overall design vision and strategy for the organisation.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field: You should have a strong educational background in design or a related field.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience as a Product Designer: You should have a minimum of 6 years of experience as a Product Designer, with a focus on digital products. And at least 1-2 years of leading a team of UX/Product designers.
- Proven track record of designing and launching successful products: You should have a proven track record of designing and launching successful products, preferably in the media or technology industry. Your portfolio should showcase your design process, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Experience in the media industry is a plus.
- Proficiency in UX design tools and methodologies: You should have proficiency in industry-standard UX design tools such as Figma, LottiesFiles or Adobe Creative Suite. Familiarity with user research methods, information architecture, and interaction design is also required.
- Strong leadership and communication skills: You should have strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate design concepts and decisions to stakeholders. You should be able to inspire and motivate the design team to achieve outstanding results.
- Strategic mindset and business acumen: You should have a strategic mindset and a strong understanding of business goals and objectives. You should be able to align design initiatives with overall business strategies and contribute to the company's growth and success.
