Job Description
Reports to the Nurse Manager and deputies her in her absence. Responsible for the administration and implementation of the Home's policies and procedures; supervise a team of care staff which include overseeing day-to-day nursing and related activities, ensuring quality nursing standards and proper clinical documentation.
- Assesses residents within 24 hours of admission
- Develops a nursing care plan and carry out nursing care based on care plan
- Assists in organising and coordinating activities directed at enhancing the quality of life of residents
- Accountable for the residents' personal hygiene, grooming and their activities of daily living
- Identifies and initiates appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures
- Prepares and maintains proper and accurate clinical documentation
- Ensures safe custody and keep proper records for Controlled Drugs and Poisons
- Sees to the proper administration of prescribed medications and treatment
- Makes professional judgement and decisions in rendering nursing care to the residents according to individual's needs
- Supervises the enrolled nurse, nursing aides and healthcare assistants in the delivery of nursing care based on the care plan so as to maintain adequate standard of nursing care
- Guides, educates and trains new staff
- Co-ordinates with other staff members and update them on changes in the residents' conditions and needs
- Co-ordinates with other departments such as housekeeping and maintenance to ensure a safe, clean and properly maintained environment
- Evaluates the resident's response to care interventions on a regular basis and recommends revision of care plans as necessary
- Keeps abreast with the latest developments in the care of the elderly by reading nursing literature, attending lectures and talks
- Do shift duty and be on-call whenever necessary
- Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Job Requirement
- Possess Diploma or Degree in Nursing or its equivalent;
- Possess Post Basic or Advanced Diploma in nursing education will be an added advantage;
- Hold a valid registration with Singapore Nursing Board (SNB);
- Possess good clinical skills and knowledge.
