Job Description
The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy is seeking Research Assistant(s) who will assist with ongoing projects in the field of social science, including financial literacy, economics of aging, social security, and public policy.
The successful candidate should have an interest in one or more of the above-listed topics, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a willingness to learn about new topics. The candidate must demonstrate some competence in quantitative research methods using STATA or R. Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
This position requires a minimum of one year of past research experience as a full-time RA (in any field). It is not suitable for fresh graduates. This position caters to individuals who are looking to further their skillsets and analytical training to develop a career or pursue further studies in the fields of public policy or social science research. The Research Assistant will work directly with Asst Professor Joelle Fong.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Responsibilities of the full-time RA include:
- Administrative support for research projects under a 5-year research programme
- Conduct literature reviews
- Assist with collecting, cleaning, and analyzing primary/ secondary data
- Draft/contribute to research reports, policy briefs, and articles
- Prepare presentation materials for stakeholder meetings
- Copy-editing and proof reading
- Any other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance, or Sociology from a reputable university.
- Candidates with a Master’s degree are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum of one year of past research experience as a full-time RA (in any field).
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Self-motivated and attention to detail.
- Able to commit to at least 1 year of service.
- This is a one-year fixed-term appointment, with the possibility of renewal.
