Responsibilities:
· Taking a lead role in creative workshops, generating and visualising your own ideas and those of the team around you
· Production of detailed drawings and manufacturing specifications
· Transfer of designs to manufacture through liaison with external suppliers
· Spending time at design partners and manufacturing sites, acting as the liaison between the company, the design team and the manufacturer to ensure realisation of products
· Troubleshooting manufacturing problems
· Helping develop manufacturing cost models, and iterating this throughout the design process
· Advising design teams on the most suitable manufacturing processes
· Applying your knowledge of manufacturing in a packaging environment to ensure the correct processes are being followed
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Bachelor degree or Diploma in engineering, industrial design, or mechanics tertiary program
· Minimum 8 years relevant working experience in product Design and Development
· Strong in computer aided design, or CAD. Should be comfortable with taking ideas from a conceptual level through detail design
· Able to multi-task well and manage Automation systems project
· Able to demonstrate innovative past projects through a portfolio or simple case studies
· Comfortable in structural analysis, or FEA
· Familiar with design for manufacture, or DFM
· Ideally has experience working with industrial applications of plastic and plastic part design and or test qualification
Working Environment:
· This position may require occasional travel to vendor sites and customer (local and overseas).
· The role involves working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and equipment.
