Quantity Surveyor Job Description
We are seeking a diligent Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and analyzing existing budgets and making improvements, reviewing plans and preparing quantity estimates, negotiating with various contractors and vendors, as well as building relationships with clients and site team of construction projects. This role involves working closely with project manager, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards. The Quantity Surveyor will also provide expert advice on costs, procurement strategies, and contract terms.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
- Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects based on client requirements and specifications.
- Administer contract terms and conditions, including variations and claims.
- Review and advise on contract documents to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Monitor and control project costs against budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct regular cost analysis and prepare detailed progress reports.
- Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
- Source and obtain competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
- Liaising with project manager, site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
- Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
- Assisting in tender process.
- Evaluate tender submissions and negotiate contracts to ensure the best terms for the company.
- Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
- Traveling from the office to various sites as required.
Quantity Surveyor Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, engineering, management, or similar.
- Construction estimating or finance experienced is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Sound knowledge of construction.
- Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize, plan, and strategize.
- Proficiency in relevant software such as Excel, cost estimation software, and project management tools.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience
Quantity Surveyor Working Hours:
5.5 days work
9am to 6pm (Monday to Fridays) / 9am to 1pm (Saturdays)
