Job Description: Asst. Restaurant Manager - Japanese Omakase Restaurant

Location: Chinatown Area

About Us: Our client is a premier Japanese omakase restaurant dedicated to providing an authentic and exceptional dining experience. Our team is passionate about delivering top-notch service and showcasing the art of Japanese cuisine. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Floor Manager to join our team and oversee daily operations.

Position: Asst. Restaurant Manager

Reports To: Managing Director/Operations Manager

Job Summary: The Asst. Restaurant Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant floor. This role requires a strong understanding of high-end service standards, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to manage both staff and customer experiences effectively. The Floor Manager will play a key role in maintaining the restaurant’s ambiance, upholding service standards, and fostering a positive dining atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Staff Management: Supervise, train, and mentor front-of-house staff, including servers, hosts, and support staff.
    Schedule shifts and manage staffing levels to ensure optimal service during peak and off-peak hours.
    Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  2. Customer Service: Greet and interact with guests to ensure a memorable dining experience.
    Address and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
    Oversee table assignments and ensure efficient and courteous service.
  3. Operations: Monitor restaurant operations to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
    Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including managing reservations and waitlists.
    Coordinate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure seamless service flow.
  4. Quality Control: Ensure the quality of food and presentation meets the restaurant’s high standards.
    Conduct regular inspections of the dining area to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
    Implement and uphold service standards to enhance guest satisfaction.
  5. Financial Management: Assist in managing budgets, controlling costs, and optimizing revenue.
    Monitor inventory levels and work with suppliers to ensure the availability of necessary items.
    Handle cash and payment transactions accurately.
  6. Team Collaboration: Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
    Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
    Lead by example and inspire staff to maintain high levels of performance.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Asst. Restaurant Manager or similar role in a high-end restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Strong understanding of Japanese cuisine and omakase dining experience preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in hospitality management is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a management role within the restaurant industry.
