Job Overview:
As a Junior Security Consultant, you will work under the guidance of senior team members to identify security vulnerabilities, assess risks, and implement security measures. This role is ideal for those new to the cybersecurity field, eager to develop technical expertise and gain hands-on experience in safeguarding IT systems from cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting security assessments, including vulnerability scans and penetration testing.
- Collaborate with senior consultants to analyze and mitigate security risks.
- Support the development and implementation of security policies and procedures.
- Monitor security events and provide initial analysis of potential threats.
- Assist in the investigation of security incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Help in the configuration of security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, etc.) and monitor network traffic for anomalies.
- Stay updated on the latest security technologies, threats, and trends.
- Participate in security awareness training sessions for end-users and clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or related roles.
- Basic understanding of networking, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and security protocols.
- Familiarity with security assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Wireshark, Metasploit).
- Knowledge of security standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify security risks.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CISSP (or willingness to pursue).
- Hands-on experience with SIEM tools and security monitoring platforms.
- Basic scripting or programming skills for automation (e.g., Python, Bash).
