Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Legal Counsel will provide legal support to SciGen’s businesses across Asia and other applicable regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner the business teams and management to assist on a wide range of regional and local legal matters / projects.
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts and agreements.
- Manage and monitor the Company’s trademark portfolio and liaise with the local trademark agent on necessary actions to be taken to protect the Company’s trademarks.
- Identify legal issues and risks and collaborate with stakeholders to propose practical and alternative solutions, mitigate risks and resolve legal issues using legal expertise and negotiation skills.
- Assist relevant stakeholders in contracts implementation and management from legal perspective.
- Develop, maintain and update the Company’s standard contract terms and templates.
- Establish legal processes, develop checklists and working tools for legal function to support the business effectively and efficiently.
- Review and monitor compliance policies, such as data privacy, anti-corruption, competition, code of practices and other compliances applicable to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Conduct legal research or due diligence on topics applicable to the business, compliance and any other issues encountered by the Company, and keep abreast of changes in laws applicable to the Company.
- Advise and conduct training for the business and functions on key legal requirements and developments.
- Manage and monitor the Company’s contract management system and SharePoint.
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties as and when assigned.
Requirements:
- Degree in law or equivalent qualification with a reputable university.
- Admitted to the Bar in Singapore or any other law jurisdiction.
- Minimum five (5) years of post-qualification experience, preferably gained from a reputable law firm and as a regional in-house counsel in the pharmaceutical / life sciences sector.
- Experience and familiarity with the legal framework and advising businesses in the Asia Pacific region is highly advantageous.
- Experience with intellectual property and related matters, in particular managing trademarks and conducting IP due diligence is a must.
- Experience with personal data protection law, anti-bribery laws, ethics and compliance is a plus.
- Independent and adaptable in multi-tasking and prioritising competing business requests, and delivering results within set timelines.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, analytical, drafting and negotiating skills.
- Ability to write and converse in Mandarin or Korean is preferred but not required.
- Proven ability to effectively partner and communicate, collaborate, influence and develop relationships cross-functionally and at all levels.
