Job Summary:
As the Host and Floor Manager, you will lead the operational flow of the cocktail bar, making sure guests receive outstanding service in a lively, relaxed atmosphere. Your role involves managing and supporting floor staff, coordinating with the Head Bartender to deliver top-tier service, and assisting in the flawless execution of events. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for preserving the bar’s inviting ambiance and ensuring it consistently reflects the brand’s identity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest reception and seating: Warmly welcome guests upon arrival, manage reservations, and efficiently seat guests while balancing table assignments to optimise flow.
- Oversee floor operations: Monitor the flow of service, manage seating arrangements, and ensure smooth daily operations.
- Customer relations: Proactively address guest inquiries and concerns, ensuring a positive and memorable dining experience from arrival to departure.
- Reservation and waitlist management: Handle phone, online, and in-person reservations, manage waitlists, and communicate table availability with guests and staff.
- Problem-solving: Quickly resolve guest complaints, staff issues, or operational problems that arise during the shift.
- Support overall operations: Assist in setting up the bar for service and handle opening/closing duties.
- Inventory and supplies: Coordinate with the Head Bartender to ensure the bar is well-stocked and that the team is prepared for service.
- Cleanliness and compliance: Uphold health and safety standards, maintaining the cleanliness of the entrance, host stand, and dining areas.
- Staff management: Lead, mentor, and motivate the floor team to deliver exceptional service. Assist in scheduling, training, and fostering the development of staff.
- Maintain service standards: Conduct regular team briefings to ensure alignment with service standards, brand identity, and company goals.
- Event coordination: Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of events at the bar, working closely with the Head Bartender and Ida’s event organisers to ensure smooth operations. Oversee event setup and breakdown, ensuring all requirements are met and the space is properly prepared.
- Administrative duties: Support inventory management by conducting regular stock checks and ordering supplies as needed. Handle billing, invoicing, and financial reporting related to floor operations. Provide management with regular updates on operational performance and team progress.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a bar or restaurant setting.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in event coordination is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
