Your Job

The primary purpose of the Sr Engineer, Product Design (IO) is to lead the design of BiPass solution connector products for major data center companies. This includes developing modifications to CBSU products and manufacturing processes, implementing products through customer qualification tests, and completing projects according to internal product development procedures and ISO/QS requirements.


Our Team

The Sr Engineer, Product Design (IO) is part of the Datacom and Specialty Solutions Division (DSS) and reports to the Sr Manager, Product Development Engineering. The role involves regular interaction with internal teams such as peers, field sales, and production facilities, as well as external customers and suppliers, often handling complex, sensitive, and confidential technical matters.


What You Will Do

  • Develop new mechanical products of connectors. Support interface of Molex products to customer and partner company systems.
  • Lead new product development efforts executing Product Development Phase Gate Process from development of the product concept through volume production while adhering to project schedule Design includes all aspects of product development such as: 3D Modeling, 2D Drawings, engineering changes, technical documents, etc.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering to develop manufacturing processes utilizing the latest 3D CAD modeling techniques and other Design for Manufacturability (DFM) tools.
  • Use risk reduction tools to perform TA, FEA, model simulation etc. for design analysis is expected. Utilize a working knowledge of material costs and manufacturing processes to determine the impact on various design attributes. Provides input to the DFMEA analysis of the product as required.
  • Performs design validation activities to ensure that design meets the specifications of the customer, UL requirements, and reliability testing.
  • Provide technical support to customers, suppliers, and inside product marketing personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3 years of product design experience in electronic products.
  • Experience with Product Development Process (PDP).
  • Understanding of Tolerance Analysis, DFMEA, and FEA.
  • Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and customers.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with minor courses or a degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in the connector industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of high precision sheet metal design.
  • In-depth knowledge of die casting and plastic injection molding.
  • Expertise in material and manufacturing processes such as stamping and forming sheet metal.
  • Proficiency in tolerance analysis.
  • Solid modeling experience to generate 3D models and 2D drawings, and knowledge of drafting standards.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with global teams.
