The key duties and responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
- Manage and maintain servers, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
- Oversee virtualization technologies, including hypervisors and virtual machines (VMs).
- Configure and manage network switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure secure and efficient data flow.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring compliance with security policies and standards.
- Provide support for data center operations, including hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to plan and implement system upgrades and patches.
- Maintain documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures.
The candidate should possess the below qualities to fulfil the needs of the role:
- Degree/Diploma/ITE degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT systems engineering, with a focus on Linux environments.
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA, or LPIC are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including switching, routing, and firewalls.
- Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware, FusionCompute or KVM.
- Familiarity with data center operations and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
