The key duties and responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
- Manage and maintain servers, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Oversee virtualization environments, including hypervisors and virtual machines.
- Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Implement and maintain database security measures, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulations.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including query optimization and resource management.
- Support data center operations, including the deployment and maintenance of hardware and software.
- Collaborate with development and application teams to ensure database requirements are met.
- Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.
The candidate should possess the below qualities to fulfil the needs of the role:
- Degree/Diploma/ITE in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT systems engineering, with a focus on database management.
- Professional certifications such as OCP, MCDA, or equivalent are a plus.
- Strong understanding of networking, including switching, routing, and firewall management.
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, FusionCompute or KVM.
- Familiarity with data center operations and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
