As a video journalist, your role will involve:
- creating and producing videos both short-form and long-form for media platforms
- generating ideas for a wide range of stories and features, from history to culture to current issues to entertainment
- pitching ideas to various outlets
- researching and finding unique sources of content
- identifying potential profiles, briefing them and conducting interviews
- verifying sources using relevant and credible information sources
- writing scripts and treatments
- working independently or in teams
- using video / DSLR cameras if required
- collaborating with editors and creative teams
- developing local & international contacts
- identifying necessary resources and video crews for location shoots as needed
Requirements:
- 3 - 5 years of experience preferred
- must be curious and interested in people, news, current and international affairs and possess good general knowledge
- strong storytelling sense, and ability to generate original ideas to pitch
- self-starter, confident, mature and adaptable
- excellent written and verbal skills (English and / or Malay / Chinese)
- excellent interviewing and listening skills
- able to absorb, extract and present information in a clear and understandable way
- able to shoot and edit video
- able to work independently and with teams
- tenacity, persistence, resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills.
- enjoy meeting people, building rapport and handling interactions with sensitivity and diplomacy
