Host Pathogen Interactions in A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR ID Labs) is seeking a Postdoctoral researcher to join the lab.

We are seeking a talented and collaborative post-doctoral researcher to work in the broad scope of host-pathogen interactions and infectious diseases. The lab has various funded projects on the comparison of host-alphavirus interactions at the immune response level in vivo in animal models through a novel viral-centric and multiOmic approach. Other projects include immune response evaluation of vaccine adjuvant candidates, development of cell-based reporter systems of viral infections to facilitate and accelerate antiviral studies, as well as development of novel vaccine strategies.

The candidate will be expected to work on funded projects as well as develop novel research projects in the scope of the lab research interests to be able to apply to the various early career development schemes both at an internal and external national level. Virus studied in the lab are positive sense RNA viruses as well as some negative sense RNA viruses. Other common techniques and tools in the lab include protein-protein/RNA interactions, microscopy, functional genomics, viral reverse genetics, CRISPR Cas9 gene editing. Animals models available in the lab include mice and zebrafish.

Throughout the project, close collaborative work within A*STAR ID Labs as well as other institutes throughout Singapore and overseas will be used to leverage expertise for high impact studies.

Job Requirements

  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Immunology, Virology or related field
  • At least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience (immunology or related field) is a plus.
  • No virology experience necessary. Prior bioinformatic experience is a plus.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ambitious early career researcher preferred.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Good spoken and written communication skills.
  • Willing to learn to work in a BSL3 facility if necessary
  • Must be comfortable to work with small animal models.
