About the team
Our team is creating the new generation of Foreign Exchange platform for our customers. We operate in 150 + countries in over 60 + currencies, helping our customers streamline payments around the world with market leading FX rates. Our mission is to streamline our FX pricing & risk management capability and re-architect the APIs and workflow engines that power our FX enabled customer experience across payments, conversions and multi-currency card spend.
What you’ll do
As the FX Engineering Manager, this high-impact role will collaborate closely cross-functionally with product, design and engineering teams across Airwallex. You will lead a high performing engineering teams and leaders, evolving our mission critical Foreign Exchange platform in continued growth. The team is focused on providing seamless global native capability across Airwallex's diverse product ecosystem, which also includes card issuing, payments and acquiring.
This senior role will include both people & technical leadership responsibilities, and will require you to design and execute an engineering strategy in partnership with the organization's senior leaders. You will be responsible for both the delivery & overall health of the FX engineering domain.
This role can be performed from Melbourne OR Singapore
Skills & Experience you will bring
We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum qualifications:
• Solid foreign exchange, cross-border or payments domain knowledge
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on solving availability & consistency challenges across mission critical, distributed systems
• 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team (this role manages, managers)
• Hands on experience with event driven architectures
• Experience with backend technologies is essential. While we do not mind what language you have most recently been using, we are using Java or Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot
• Evidence of working on high volume distributed systems. Strong cloud experience GCP (preferred) or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront etc) with docker and Kubernetes
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience developing and maintaining automated tests and quality control processes
• Experience integrating with observability tooling such as Splunk, NewRelic, Prometheus, Grafana
