The Operations Manager – Transport Operations will be responsible for managing the daily logistics, transportation, and distribution functions of the company. This includes optimising routing, managing delivery vehicles and personnel, coordinating with third-party carriers, and ensuring on-time delivery. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive experience in transport operations, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of the transport operations, including route planning, fleet management, and carrier coordination.
• Oversee the scheduling and timely delivery of products to customers, distribution centers, and retail partners.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve delivery efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations, transportation laws, and company policies.
• Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, freight companies, and other transport partners.
• Implement and monitor KPIs related to delivery performance, cost control, and service quality.
• Ensure the maintenance and availability of the company’s fleet, including scheduling regular vehicle inspections and repairs.
• Analyze and report on transport costs, identifying opportunities for savings and operational improvements.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as warehouse management, procurement, and customer service to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
• Implement technology solutions, such as route optimization software or GPS tracking, to improve operational efficiency.
• Troubleshoot delivery issues, delays, and customer complaints, resolving problems quickly and efficiently.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, fleet management, and logistics software
• Proven experience managing third-party carriers and in-house fleet operations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret transport metrics and drive improvements.
• Experience in negotiating with carriers and logistics service providers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on process improvement.
