We are seeking a talented and ambitious candidate to join our team in developing next-generation quantum sensors. The project focuses on creating a mesoscopic-scale "artificial atom" through superconducting levitation of a ferromagnetic particle. This levitated, freely precessing particle represents a system of correlated spins, capable of rapidly averaging quantum uncertainty. By leveraging this system, we aim to develop quantum sensors with sensitivities surpassing the standard quantum limits.
This position is based in A*STAR Quantum Innovation Centre (Q.InC). The successful candidate will contribute to a range of innovative activities, including:
Key Responsibilities:
- Modeling the dynamics of the levitated particle
- Microfabrication of the particle, silicon pocket, and superconducting materials
- Learning to operate a dilution refrigerator
- Analyzing signals acquired from SQUIDs (Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices)
- Investigating the coupling between the particle’s motion and the spin degrees of freedom of individual nitrogen-vacancy centers to explore mechanically mediated quantum networks
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Precise Instrumentation, or related fields
- Strong motivation for multidisciplinary research
- Prior experience in superconductivity and/or quantum sensing is highly preferred
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
