Job Summary:The Technical and Research Director plays a critical role in leading and managing all technical and research-related activities within the organization. This position requires a deep understanding of both technical and scientific principles, as well as strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership:Provide strategic direction and leadership for all technical operations.
Oversee the development and implementation of technical policies, procedures, and standards.
Ensure that technical resources are effectively utilized to support organizational goals and objectives.
Keep abreast of emerging technologies and trends, and make recommendations for their integration into existing systems and processes. - Research Management:Lead and manage research projects from conception to completion.
Develop and maintain research agendas aligned with organizational objectives.
Identify and prioritize research opportunities based on their potential impact and relevance.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to leverage expertise and resources for research initiatives. - Team Leadership:Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing technical and research team.
Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members.
Promote a positive work environment that encourages creativity and professional growth. - Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of technical and research activities with broader organizational goals.
Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including academic institutions, research organizations, and industry stakeholders.
Represent the organization in technical and research forums, conferences, and industry events. - Budget and Resource Management:Develop and manage budgets for technical and research initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and optimization without compromising quality or outcomes.
Monitor and report on the financial performance of technical and research activities, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant technical or scientific field.
- Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in technical leadership and research management roles.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex technical and research projects.
- Strong knowledge of research methodologies, data analysis techniques, and experimental design.
