The Technology and Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in collaborating with the General Manager to deploy the company's proprietary technology to the subsidiaries operating under the purview of the Asia-Pacific Regional Headquarters.
The responsibilities of the Technology and Engineering Manager, based on extensive construction management experience across all processes from project initiation to completion backed by highly technical expertise, include but are not limited to:
- Establish smooth communication channels with managers of the subsidiaries and offices in APAC region, facilitating various matters related to the investigation, collection, and communication of technical information and the dissemination of the Company's proprietary technology, and coordinating with relevant departments at the Japan headquarters.
- Expected to contribute to advancing business operations to maximize the group's profits in this regard.
- Ensure the trends and needs in construction technologies used by the projects in APAC region.
- Evaluate and select the company's proprietary technology that contribute to operational efficiency, cost reduction, or carbon neutral, and make a return on investment, including various costs related to the deployment, and systematically promote optimal and prompt deployment to subsidiaries and offices in APAC region.
- Support the procedures, such as obtaining approval from the Japan headquarters, when concluding various contracts with local companies to introduce the company's proprietary technology.
- Support the procedures related to obtaining patents, design registrations, and trademark registrations by connecting Asian subsidiaries with the Japan headquarters, to protect the intellectual property rights of company’s proprietary technologies and technologies developed for local application.
Job Requirement (Qualification, experience and skills):
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Building, or Engineering disciplines or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the construction industry. Successful candidate is expected to be in a global construction company for the latest 3 years to be familiar with the latest outlook of the building and construction industry and current industrial requirements and regulations.
- Minimum 5 years of hands on experience of construction management, overseeing the following;
o Schedule and process management to ensure construction to be completed by the initial deadline
o Quality management to ensure that deliverables meet the specifications and design drawing
o Safety management to ensure the safety of on-site worker
o Budget management to ensure the cost stays within the initially planned budgett
- Experience managing all types of construction as Construction Manager or Building Technical Manager, including:
o Foundation work (including earthwork, piling, concrete work, formwork, and steel construction)
o Main body construction (roofing work)
o Finishing work (interior work)
- In addition to managing several aspects of construction projects, this position is required to possess hands-on experience leading document procedures with government agencies, negotiations with designers, and external partners/vendors in construction projects.
- In-depth understanding of international practices, laws and regulations, as well as standard is a must. Successful candidates need to be familiar with the followings:
o architectural intricacies [HH1]
o working drawings [HH2]
o FIDIC regulations
o BS
o ASTM
- Knowledgeable about the contracts, intellectual property, and sustainability, such as LEED, and their integration into construction practices.
- Business level Japanese skill of at least JLPT N1 or equivalent to ensure accurate communication on business development for building project with Tokyo head office in Japan.
- Willingness to undertake frequent overseas business travel.
